Hi Everyone !
Today, I’m going to talk about a place: The “Chateau Borely”.The castle Borély is a castle situated in the south districts of Marseille ( 8th district):
In reality it is about an old country-house in the campaign, which was especially inhabited in the beautiful days. This castle was built in the XVIIIe century at the request of Louis Borély ( 1692-1768 ), a rich trader of Marseille. It is implanted in the current park Borély:
Near to the racecourse of Marseille:
It was sold to the city from the XIXe century and accommodated the museum of archaeology during several years (and until 1989). Vast building on 3 levels, it is composed by two detached houses, by a vast court and a gate on the back. The main building is richly decorated, in particular on the first floor, of a very beautiful egg-shaped chapel. The castle Borély which underwent a profound restoration between 2009 and 2013, is again opened to the public since June 15th, 2013. It is of use as case to the municipal museum of the Decorative arts.
For the followers of speaking of Marseille:
- Expression with “cagnard”:
« Restes pas en plein cagnard pardi!» means that you don’t have to stay in the sun
